With effect from the 1 December 2020, new regulations come into force which extend the early conciliation period from four weeks (with the possibility to extend by another two weeks) to a standard six week period (with no option to extend).
It is also now possible for ACAS conciliation officers to correct any errors on the form submitted during that period.
With ACAS’s increasing workload, and reports that some employers are not being contacted during the first few weeks, it is hoped that the change will allow more cases to be settled during the early conciliation period.
