BEIS has published a consultation on measures recommended by the Low Pay Commission which focus on so-called “one-sided flexibility” – i.e. some low-paid casual, zero hour and gig workers and the Commission’s finding that shift cancellations and short notice of work schedules were significant problems.

The Consultation canvasses views on:

  • a right to reasonable notice of work schedule

  • compensation for shift cancellation or curtailment without reasonable notice
