Government proposes new Neonatal leave and pay, together with changes to parental leave and flexible

The government is seeking views on proposals to better support parents to balance work and family-life.

One consultation seeks views on proposals to offer more support to a particular group who face distinct challenges in staying in or returning to work. It proposes new support for parents of babies requiring neonatal care through statutory Neonatal Leave and Pay. This would support this group of parents to balance employment with the challenges brought by having a baby in neonatal care.

Another consultation seeks views on the overall approach to parental leave and pay. It asks how the government should prioritise and balance the different levels of support and ensure that parental leave and pay arrangements continue to meet the needs of parents and their employers.

A further consultation looks at flexible working, and transparency of family friendly policies.
