Temperatures are coming down and we have seen the first frost, but is your business prepared for adverse weather disruption?
The starting point is to plan ahead and have a clear policy in place, letting employees know what is expected of them if they cannot get into work. Can they work from home or be flexible in their hours?
They are not automatically entitled to pay if they are unable to get into work, so is it unpaid, or can they take holiday, special time off or make up the time later?
Being clear before the disruption happens will help misunderstandings and possible disputes from arising.
