Cricket, tennis and the football World Cup is just round the corner, between the 14 June and 15 July.
To avoid disruption to your business and having to hand out red cards, employers are advised to start preparing now to manage and avoid potentially difficult situations arising through employees wanting to watch sporting events during working hours. Our Sporting and Special Events Policy outlines the options available from providing flexible working arrangements, altering break times, to taking holidays or making up the time. Employees need to be warned what the consequences will be if they simply go sick or watch at their desk.
It is also anticipated that there will be a sharp rise in the use of social media during these events, so employees should be reminded of your Social Media Policy, and what they can and cannot do.
Finally, employees should be reminded of your Alcohol and Drugs Policy.
Taking such action now, should help prevent unnecessary penalties or unplanned send offs!
