Sickness absence on the rise

The average days employees took off sick during 2016 has risen slightly to 6.6 days in the private sector, and 9.1 days in the public sector. The problem is worse in larger organisations with more than 1000 employees, where the average was 8.8 days. While slightly up on 2015, it is down from 8 days ten years ago.
