Queen's Speech 2016: implications for employment law

The only item which is likely to be of interest to employment law is the proposed British Bill of Rights, which will reform the UK human rights framework set out in the Human Rights Act 1998.

The aim of the Bill is to continue to protect fundamental human rights and to provide better protection against abuse of the system and misuse of the human rights laws. The rights to be set out in the Bill will be based on those set out in the European Convention on Human Rights but will take account of the tradition of common law that has developed through the courts.
