The government has published the first list of employers who have claimed under the furlough scheme.
The aim of the scheme was part of the government’s commitment to transparency and to deter fraudulent claims. However, it has been criticised due to only 750,000 names being published. A number of reasons have been given, including processing requests from employers not to be named. There is also criticism that there is no information on the value of claims.
The government has said will publish more next month, together with figures in a list of band ranges.
